The following feedback has been received during community consultation forums:

Feedback Provided
  • There is a large representation of Aboriginal people in the area and there would be a significant impact on access to justice if court services were reduced or moved elsewhere.
  • There will be an impact on access to justice for victims having to travel further.
  • The Nunga Court is very busy and this would be a huge loss.
  • Prosecution in Murray Bridge is very efficient at case file management. This could be improved in Adelaide to reduce the number of adjournments.
  • Online adjournments would be useful for Murray Bridge and Mount Barker. Would also be useful in civil matters.
  • There would be an increase in breaches of court orders resulting in more lodgments.
  • Having no drug programs in Murray Bridge is a huge issue and the domestic violence court has had a huge take up rate. Services need to be expanded not reduced. Justice and Health services need to work together on a lot of these issues e.g. drug problems, mental health.
  • Solicitors and court users use the registry a lot for assistance and it would be detrimental to not have a staffed registry.
  • More general court days are needed, not a reduction in services.
  • Public transport into Murray Bridge from smaller local communities is very limited/non-existent and public transport to Mount Barker and Adelaide are also limited and expensive.
  • AVL is not ideal for full court days.
