Probate transition to CourtSA

The Courts are preparing to launch CourtSA in Probate on Monday 26 November 2018. A transition plan has been developed to help the Probate Registry prepare for this initiative and transition from paper to digital. This plan will enable the Registry to fully focus on processing the current applications to clear the backlog before the transition to the new system.

Please read the following important information regarding the transition plan:

  • The Probate Registry is processing current applications and issuing grants to clear the backlog.
  • From Monday 15 October to Friday 23 November 2018 no new paper applications will be accepted, so that Registry staff can focus on addressing the paper applications in process before the switch to CourtSA on Monday 26 November 2018. During this time, the Registry will stay open for the management of requisitions and will continue to process applications that were received by COB on Friday 12 October 2018.
  • Emergency applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, as per the current process.
  • If a grant is not capable of being issued by Friday 23 November 2018, the application will need to be refiled in CourtSA from Monday 26 November 2018. It is for this reason that applicants should strongly consider whether they want to file new paper applications in September or October or hold off until Monday 26 November 2018 and file in CourtSA.
  • The Registry‚Äôs decision to accept no new paper applications from Monday 15 October 2018 until Friday 23 November 2018 is not intended to disadvantage applicants. The introduction of CourtSA provides online data validation, which guides applicants through the process. The online forms are simpler and easier to complete. As a result, it is expected that there will be a reduction in the number of requisitions and rejected applications. Applications filed after the launch of CourtSA are expected to be processed more quickly than the current paper based system.
  • Applicants are strongly recommended not to file any new grant applications from Monday 17 September 2018. If a grant is not capable of being issued by Friday 23 November 2018, that application will need to be refiled in CourtSA from Monday 26 November 2018.
