There is a taxi rank in front of the main entrance to the Sir Samuel Way Building.

Tram

The Tram station is located in Victoria Square

Train

The Adelaide Railway Station is located on North terrace roughly 15 minutes walk from the courthouse or ten minutes on the tram.

Parking

There is limited on-street parking available for up to 3 hours. Undercover parking stations are located between Gouger and Grote Streets and Gouger and Wright Streets

Local amenities

Entrance to the building is via Wright Street.

Public toilets are located off the waiting rooms with an accessible toilet located on the ground floor opposite Court 4.

An accessible water fountain is located on the ground floor opposite the registry counter.

There are interview rooms, victim rooms and family waiting rooms located through the building.  If you require a private waiting room, please ask at the registry or unit reception.

A parents room is available in the Care and protection unit which is available to all court users.  There are also rooms for children to wait and play in the court and in the Care and Protection area. This includes 4 computers which include games as well as court related information.

Refreshments

Cafes and restaurants can be found on Gouger Street and in the Central Market complex approximately 2 minutes away.

What facilities/services are available for people with disabilities?

  • Closest accessible car parking is the Mill Street Car Park (off Gouger Street) or the Central Market Car Park, (off Grote or Gouger Street).
  • An access ramp is located at both entrances and a lift is available to the Family Conference area.
  • Narrow security gate may be difficult for wide wheelchairs or scooters. Speak to Sherriff’s officers for alternative entry.
  • Accessible right-hand transfer (RH) toilet is located on the ground level, adjacent to Court 4.
  • Baby change facility is in the access toilet.
  • Accessible water fountain located on the ground level waiting area.
  • Amplification systems are installed in all courtrooms.
  • Accessible counter is available on the ground level.
  • Controls in lift are at a suitable height for people in a wheelchair and have raised tactile/Braille illuminated control buttons.
  • Stairs have double handrails and clear strip nosings.
  • Hearing augmentation with FM assistive listening receivers is available from the Sheriff for use in the Court.
  • Portable ramps are available for small steps in courtrooms. Notify the Sheriff’s Office (8204 0149) or sheriff@courts.sa.gov.au before you attend to make the appropriate arrangements.
