getting a judgment

What is a judgment?

When do I get a judgment in my case?

How do I know when the judgment is ready?

What if the decision is against me?

What is a judgment?

A judgment is a written decision of the court.  It is binding on all the parties (unless and until it is overturned by a higher court).

When do I get a judgment in my case?

Judges and commissioners try to provide a judgment within 6 weeks of the last day of the hearing.

How do I know when the judgment is ready?

The court will send you (and the other parties) a copy of the judgment in the post.  Copies of all judgments are also published on this website, usually within two days of them being posted out.

What if the decision is against me?

You can appeal to the Supreme Court against a decision of the ERD Court.  So of course, can any of the other parties.
