Reference and research services

Assistance is available at the reference desk, over the telephone or by fax or e-mail to members of the legal profession, government departments, business people and the public.

Publications

The District Court Judgment Index is available to practitioners, law firms and libraries on subscription. The annual subscription covers six bi-monthly updates to the subject index to District Court judgments, together with an annual consolidation of the subject index and consolidated plaintiff and defendant indexes for that year. Consolidated indexes for previous years are also available.

Interlibrary loans

If the library does not hold the journal or law report you require, it may be possible to obtain the material from another library in Australia, or if necessary, from overseas.  Click here to see the fee schedule.

Electronic resources

The Library provides internet access for legal research which includes the use of major subscription-based services covering a wide range of Australian and international case law, legislation, journal literature and news services.  assistance is provided for researchers who are unfamiliar with using online databases.

Document delivery

Library staff will photocopy materials for you for posting or collection. For your convenience, we will also fax to your office. Some materials can also be transmitted by email.  A charge applies to this service. Click here to see the fee schedule. If required, a quotation can be provided when the request is made.

Training

If you require assistance using any of the library’s facilities, the library staff will be pleased to help. Training sessions for online research sources can be arranged with the Reference Librarian, and can be tailored to suit your specific needs.
