Library access is not restricted and any member of the public may use the Library, subject to the discretion of the Library Manager.
The Library is open from 9.00am until 5.30pm every weekday except on public holidays.
The formalities prescribed from time to time by the Manager, Court Library Service must be observed when a book is borrowed from the library
Books may be borrowed by legal practitioners for citation in courts within the City of Adelaide.
They must be returned at the conclusion of the court case. Litigants representing themselves may borrow material for use in court with the permission of the Manager, Court Library Service. Some materials, for example frequently used reference works, are not available for loan.
Members of the public may use the library for research purposes, but may not borrow library materials.
Employees of the Courts Administration Authority may use the Library for reference purposes and may borrow textbooks for one week. Serial publications may not be borrowed.
The person in whose name a loan is recorded is responsible for the safekeeping of any material borrowed from the Library. The item must be returned by the due date. If the material is lost or damaged that person shall be liable for the cost of replacement or repair.
The mutilation of library books and material or the annotation, marking or disfigurement of their pages is prohibited.
Payment for all services used in the Library must be made by cash or cheque. No separate accounts are maintained.
Materials used within the Library shall be left on the trolleys provided. Users leaving the library during the day shall not leave any material on the tables or in study rooms unless they have filled in a "please leave" form clearly indicating the name and telephone number of the person using the material and time when the material will be required. These items shall then be placed on the "overnight shelves" at the rear of the Library with the form attached. This material will be removed the day following the date noted on the form if the reader does not return. This material may be used by other clients during the day.
Any person causing disturbance in the Library or annoyance to other users may be removed by the direction of the Librarian.
The mutilation of library books and material or the annotation, marking or disfigurement of their pages is prohibited.
Any person guilty of an infringement of any of these rules may be prohibited by the Registrar from the use of the Library for a definite period or until further notice.
The Library Manager shall enforce the observance of these rules and have complete control and management of the Library.
