These arrangements are subject to change in the event of new Government directions following an increase in COVID-19 cases. The health and wellbeing of all who use the Court will continue to guide our planning.
- Social distancing, administrative adjournments, appearance of practitioners by AVL / phone and custodies via AVL, will continue for the foreseeable future to reduce the number of people coming into the court buildings. List sizes will be carefully managed.
- Parties and practitioners are not to come to Court if they have:
- Fever
- Flu like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- Had close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected or having COVID-19 in the last 14 days
- Travelled outside Australia in the last 14 days.
- Obligations to appear in court may be excused in certain circumstances. If you do not intend to appear today because you honestly and reasonably believe you should self-isolate, you should do the following to support any application you may later wish to make to be excused from your obligation:
- If you are represented, tell your lawyer.
- Contact CourtSA by email enquiry@courts.sa.gov.au or phone 8204 2444.
- If you have a criminal matter contact SA Police or the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions by telephone.
- If you have a civil matter contact the other party by telephone.
- Phone your doctor.
- If you are already at the court building, complete the Proof of Attendance Contact Details information, place in the envelope provided and leave on the table or the box provided.
- From 9 June 2020, we will begin to reinstate lists and increase the number of matters before the court.
- From June, we plan to resume circuits (except APY lands where arrangements are still being finalised) and Regional Managers will make arrangements with stakeholders to advise of arrangements.
- If attending Court, please allow extra time to be processed through point of entry security as it may take additional time to enter the building because of social distancing requirements.
Thank you all for your patience and co-operation through what has been an extraordinary, once in a lifetime situation.
Judge Mary-Louise Hribal
Chief Magistrate
