‘Media reports today that a Sheriff’s Officer involved in bullying claims has received favourable treatment are misleading and inaccurate.
The claims involving the Sheriff’s Officer were independently investigated three years ago and found to be unsubstantiated.
The Sheriff’s Office routinely rotates staff through roles, including metropolitan postings, as a legitimate part of their training and professional development.
As the claims against the Sheriff’s Officer in question were unsubstantiated, there is no reasonable basis to refuse the officer opportunities that are also available to other officers.
Regardless of this, the transfer of the officer to a metropolitan role has been deferred for separate operational reasons.’
