Ippei Okazaki has successfully delivered thousands of mediations and has been working full-time as a mediator, mediation trainer, and consultant since 2007, with a solid background in trauma-informed mediation work.
He has played a pivotal role in multi-award-winning community mediation projects in remote regional areas, including natural disaster recovery efforts on Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula, and the River Murray communities and has deep and extensive experience working with urban and non-urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD clientele.
With a background in legal training, Ippei is a respected member of esteemed panels of mediators and facilitators, including Native Title, Commonwealth Ombudsman, Community Legal Centres, Media Bargaining Code, and Intellectual Properties Australia.
He is frequently engaged in training and mentoring programs for junior mediators, particularly focusing on trauma-informed techniques and handling highly vulnerable and volatile clients and how to put them at ease to undertake mediation. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Ippei was honoured as the Community Mediator of the Year by the Australian Disputes Centre in 2024 and is a Fellow of Resolution Institute.
