Statement from the Honourable Chris Kourakis, Chief Justice of South Australia

I am pleased to announce the appointment by the Courts Administration Authority (CAA) of Ms Angela Gransden to the position of Sheriff.   Ms Gransden was selected from a strong field of applicants following an extensive recruitment process.

Ms Gransden, the first female Sheriff in South Australia, will formally commence in the position on Monday, 15 November 2021.  Sheriff’s Officers have a wide range of important responsibilities in the administration of justice.

Ms Gransden previously worked in the Department for Correctional Services (DCS), leading the DCS COVID-19 response. She was the General Manager for Adelaide Women’s Prison and the Adelaide Pre-release Centre and has been a director in operational and performance roles. Ms Gransden has an MBA and experience in workforce management and human resources.

Ms Gransden will lead the CAA’s cultural change program which will ensure that the voice of Sheriff’s Officers is heard in the continuing improvement of their workplace.
