A statement from the State Courts Administrator
The Courts Administration Authority (CAA) takes the security and safety of Judiciary, staff and all court users very seriously.
To enable a safe court environment for all, the State Courts Administration Council (Council) is implementing a ‘screen all’ approach to entry to our court buildings, commencing with a three-month evaluation period at the Adelaide Magistrates Court (AMC).
From 15 December 2025, all visitors to the AMC will have their belongings screened by x-ray and will pass through a walk-through metal detector. Wand scanning may also be used when required.
Emergency services personnel, including MFS, SAPOL, SAAS etc, responding to call outs and incidents at CAA locations, will be exempt from screening. However, outside of emergency situations, these personnel will be subject to the same screening procedures as other court users.
This decision shows the Council’s commitment to keeping court users safe, including judicial officers, legal professionals, government employees, participants and the public. It introduces measures to address changing security risks while minimising disruption.
