Before you start using CourtSA, you need to create an account
CourtSA offers two account types that you can create: individual and organisation administrator.
An individual account is intended for those who are registering for themselves. An organisation administrator account is intended to be created by a representative of an organisation who can create accounts for people within their organisation.
If you are a lawyer, you will generally be invited to join a law firm account unless you are a sole practitioner.
To create an account, you will need:
- Your name
- Your email address
- A password
You do not need a separate or new CourtSA account to lodge civil cases
CourtSA currently has the ability to lodge probate cases. Its functionality is being expanded to include civil cases.
If you already have an account, you will be able use it to do everything on CourtSA.
All existing criminal cases will be available on CourtSA.
However, any Criminal or Care and Protection cases that you request access to that were not initiated in CourtSA (ie cases created prior to August/September 2022) will not have any PDF or word documents on them as the Court registries are not scanning documents from paper files into ECMS. Even where a document is not digitised and viewable it will still be listed in CourtSA to show it exists in hard copy.

However, exactly what documents will be digitised and viewable in cases started before CourtSA launches is to be determined.

What do I do if I already have a CourtSA ‘Individual’ account but want to be part of a different a Law Firm or Organisation account?
To be a part of a Law Firm or Organisation account, you must be invited by the Account Administrator of that account. You do not need to create an account yourself.
- It is recommended that your new firm give you a new email address. An Account Administrator cannot invite you if you already have a CourtSA account and want to use the same email. This is because you cannot register an email more than once in CourtSA.
- Update your contact details with the Law Society to make this new email address the one associated with your P Code. This P Code email address is where notifications for cases for which you are the Responsible Solicitor will be sent.
- If you have cases in your old CourtSA account that you would like to be able to access in your new account, you must request access to them from the Court. You may still view and do actions on your previous cases from your old CourtSA account as the account has not been deleted. However, any notifications will be sent to the email that is associated with your P Code.
If you don’t have a P Code and have already created a CourtSA account as either an ‘Individual’ or ‘Law Firm’ and want to be part of a Law Firm account:
The Account Administrator can invite you but they must use a different email to the one used to create your existing account.
What do I do if I created a CourtSA ‘Individual’ account but want to change it to a ‘Law Firm’ account?
It is not possible to deactivate or delete a CourtSA account. If you have created an Individual account’ but want to change it to an ‘Organisation account’ account you must create a new ‘Organisation Account’ and stop using your ‘Individual’ account.
If you have used your L or P Code email address to create your ‘Individual’ account you must contact Court Services.
